Why can’t we hear an echo when we talk in a living room?

Reasons for not hearing an echo in a normal-sized room/ living room: We don’t hear an echo when talking in a normal-sized room. Because the distance between the two walls of a normal size living room is not 17.2 meters. Whereas, to hear a one-dimensional sound echo, the sound reflector must be at least 17.2 meters away from the source. So echoes are not heard in normal-sized rooms.
