How does an electric iron work?
Answer: An electric iron is one of the devices that work by using the thermal effect of electric current. In electric irons, coils of nichrome wire are wound over a triangular structure of mica. The coil is wrapped with two sheets of mica for insulation. It is kept in an iron casing.
Since there is no connection of this iron cover with the coil, there is no fear of electric shock when the iron is connected to the electric line. The current causes the coil to heat up, heating the smooth iron coating underneath. So then the clothes can be ironed.
