Dogs generally hang out their tongue in summer. Dogs do not sweat. Sticking out the tongue causes water to evaporate from the tongue. The tongue provides the latent heat needed for evaporation. As a result, the tongue cools down and the body heat decreases. It makes the dog feel comfortable.
