Answer: Metals below hydrogen in the electrochemical series do not react with dilute sulfuric acid. Copper ranks below hydrogen and zinc ranks above hydrogen in the electrochemical series. Therefore, zinc reacts with dilute H2SO4 to produce hydrogen, but not reacts with copper to produce hydrogen.
