The Sun is the Main Source of Energy on Earth

Sun is the source of all our energy. The amount of solar energy is huge. But only a very insignificant part of solar energy is received by us on earth.

Sun is the main source of energy on Earth. All the energy on Earth comes directly and indirectly from the Sun.

The Sun is the Main Source of Energy on Earth

The Sun is the Main Source of Energy on Earth – Explanation

(A) In the process of photosynthesis with the help of sunlight, the plant obtains nutrition by making carbohydrate food in its green leaves with the help of water and carbon dioxide from the air. The entire animal kingdom also obtains food directly or indirectly from plants. Thus, both plants and animals depend on the sun for their nutrition and energy. Due to natural causes, plants and animals have been buried underground for thousands of years, turning into coal and mineral oil respectively. So, the primary source of all fuel or heat energy is the sun.

(B) Heat from the sun turns water from seas, rivers and reservoirs into steam. This vapour rises and cools to form clouds and from these clouds, rain falls. When that rainwater comes down from the mountains at a high speed, its kinetic energy is used to turn the dynamo to generate electricity. So, the indirect source of hydroelectricity is the sun.

(C) Sun is the main cause of wind on earth. Windmills are operated using this airflow.

(D) At present, solar energy is being used to generate electricity. The thermal energy of the sun is utilized in solar cells and solar reactors.

So it is said – Sun is the most important source of energy on earth.
