Why is a cloudy sky not suitable for dew?

Answer: Cloudy skies are unfavourable for dew formation. When the sky is cloudy, the heat radiated by the surface is reflected back to the surface by the clouds. As a result, cooling of the surface and adjacent air is delayed. Therefore dew accumulates less or not at all. Hence, cloudy skies are not conducive to dew deposition.
