Why is HCI not used in the preparation of H2S?

Answer: HCl is not used in the preparation of H2S, because hydrochloric acid is a volatile acid mixes with the H2S produced. H2S is also a mild acid. Hence it is difficult to separate H2S from this acid mixture.
