Why is Nichrome wire used in Electric heaters?

Answer: Nichrome is an alloy of nickel, chromium and iron. Its resistivity and melting point are very high. As the resistance is high, the current flow in the wire according to Joule’s law produces more heat, and the wire remains solid even at high temperatures due to the high melting point. nichrome is not oxidized by air oxygen even when exposed to air at its very high density. For these reasons, nichrome wire is used in electric heaters.
